I AM THE LIQUOR full length tape 2007

Hope yr getting yr drink on this holiday season! When I first heard this band's name I thought they were "I AM THE LICKER"...but, "No," they said, "it's 'I AM THE LIQUOR' like [motions drinking a bottle] liquor." This band used to practice in the attic at Blog Cabin, a punk house no more located on 16th St. in Pilsen (Chicago). My favorite line is from "I Can't Smoke & Swear I'm Fucked." I might as well just give up. Haha. Never!

1) Yer Life Is A Curse
2) Brutal Youth
3) Take A Walk
4) Identity Theft
5) Larky Clark Is A Pedophile
6) If I Can't Smoke & Swear I'm Fucked
7) Boo-Hoo
8) Cowboys & Indians
9) Indecisive
10) Gross & Drunken PDA
11) Whiskey Dicks
12) The Way Of The World (by Flipper)

Recorded in the spring of 2007 in Chicago, IL. I Am The Liquor is Jesse - drums, Max - bass, & Warzone (aka Amanda) - vocals. This tape is Hardscrabble Amateurs release # 06.

Over on my Tumblr site (all female bands) I put up a 6 song tape by Carnal Knowledge from 2007. They were an all female punk/hardcore band from NYC. They had 2 singers. Yeah. Check it out.

Thrills "N.A.F.I.T.C." Original Boston Punk 1977-1981

I do love that 12 disc reference of female fronted punk from the 70s & 80s, but there's at least a few bands that were missed. For instance, the Thrills from Boston. I knew nothing of this band til I found it at Reckless Records. I'm always seeking out new female-fronted punk bands, so when I found a brand new copy of this LP, I snatched it up. They were more of a rock 'n' roll band, but they definitely had a punk edge. And they even have a rager that is under a minute long ("Drano Enema"). I eat it up. Unfortunately, no lyrics were included for this release. Do yr best to sing along. And enjoy!

1. Hey (Not Another Face In The Crowd)
2. I'll Be The Heartbreaker
3. Don't Come Back
4. The Last To Know
5. Rave Up Tonight
6. Who Knows?
7. Drano Enema (The Fun Song)
8. David Berkowitz Blues (44 Caliber Killer With The Talkin' Dog)
9. When Ya Gonna Quit?
10. Summer Street Massacre
11. The Lonely Nun Song
12. Burn Down The City
13. Nothin' But A Two Bit Whore
14. Someday (We'll Rise Again)
15. (I Don't Want No) Sympathy

All Songs written by Johnny Angel, except "Drano Enema," "The Lonely Nun Song" and "Nothin' But A Two Bit Whore" written by Johnny Angel/Barb "Wire" Kitson.

Varix demo

If you head on over to my other blog (all-female bands) then you'll see that I also have a big love for all-female bands. Varix were an all female hardcore punk band from Minneapolis, MN. Read more at http://www.tumblr.com/blog/kisston.

Here's a (crappy cellphone) photo of the cover for their tape...
